PROSERPINE Mill reached its 500,000 tonne milestone last Thursday while it was crushing 98,350 tonnes of cane for the week.

Wilmar Sugar Proserpine cane supply manager Tony Marino said it was the best weekly throughput so far this season.

"Dry weather this week has allowed field conditions to improve considerably for harvesting operations," he said.

"Average weekly CCS eclipsed 14 units for the first time this season.

"There was an unscheduled stop late on Tuesday evening to carry out necessary repairs to the No. 1 mill intermediate carrier.

"The highest CCS sample was 16.47 from a rake of first ratoon Q208 in the Elaroo Productivity District."

Week eight crushing report for Wilmar Sugar's Proserpine Mill.

Plane Creek Mill crushed almost 70,000 tonnes of cane for the week - the highest weekly throughput for the season.

Both mills had much lower production last week because of rain delays.

Plane Creek cane supply manager Jim Kirchner said there had been increased crushing rates and a welcome improvement in bin weights.

"There was a marginal improvement in CCS of 0.22 a unit over the previous week, taking the season-to-date CCS to just under 13 units," he said.

"The highest CCS was 16.60 from a rake of Q252 second ratoon from the Dawlish productivity district.

Week nine crushing report for Wilmar Sugar's Plane Creek Mill.

"This is the second week running that the top CCS has come from the Dawlish area.

"This week, there will be a 12-hour scheduled cleaning intermission on Wednesday.

"Cane growers are encouraged to advise the field office of areas harvested for seed now that planting operations are well under way."
